This is a salad spinner.
Very useful in the kitchen when washing salad of course, but you can also use a salad spinner to create some interesting pieces of art!
That’s what we’ve been doing this afternoon, so I thought I’d share it with you. I’m definitely feeling happier about how we’ve spent our time today!
What You Need
For this super quick activity you will need:
- A salad spinner
- Poster paint
What To Do
Honestly, this is the easiest art activity you will ever do with your children. Plus the mess is contained within the salad spinner too, so win win right there.
Cut some pieces of paper that will fit inside the basket of your salad spinner. Put a piece of paper inside, dollop in some paint like this, pop the lid back on and spin!
Told you it was easy.
Before we got started we thought about the kinds of colours we wanted to use. The girls decided that they’re going to cut their circles into leaf shapes when they’re dry, so we went with some autumnal colours. This was great for using up those last few drops of paint as you really don’t need much.
We did talk about what we thought the paint was going to do and the girls thought the colours would all mix together. They were very impressed with their results.
It Looks Like Fireworks!
Phoebe really liked how the paint looked like it was exploding and said it looks like fireworks. We think we’re going to have another go on some black card and make fireworks pictures soon.
Without further ado, here are this afternoon’s salad spinner creations with some before and after shots…
