GEOGRAPHY
Beachcombing & River Rambling Adventures! 🏖️🌊🏞️

Get ready for some outdoor exploration and discovery! Today's lesson takes us to two amazing natural wonders: beaches and rivers.

Beaches:

Grab your bucket and spade and head to the nearest beach!

🔍 What to look for:

  • Seashells: Different shapes, sizes, and colours. Can you identify any?

  • Tide pools: Peek into these mini-ecosystems teeming with life like crabs, snails, and seaweed.

  • Sand: Notice the different textures and colours. What's it made of?

  • Birds: Observe the various types of birds soaring above or scavenging for food.

  • Waves: Feel the power of the ocean and notice how they shape the shoreline.

Rivers:

Pack a picnic and explore the banks of a local river.

🔍 What to look for:

  • Wildlife: Keep an eye out for ducks, fish, insects, and maybe even otters or kingfishers!

  • Rocks and pebbles: Examine the shapes, sizes, and colours. How did they get there?

  • Plants: Identify the different types of plants growing along the riverbank.

  • Current: Notice how fast the water is moving. What happens to objects that fall in the river?

  • Bridges: If you come across a bridge, think about how it was built and why it's important.

  • Remember:

Be safe and respectful of the environment.

Take photos of your discoveries to create a nature journal or scrapbook.

Share your findings with us on social media using #EdExpress!
