FOOD & NUTRITION
Plate Power! 🍽️💪

Let's become nutrition detectives and build a balanced plate!

Your Mission:

  1. Grab a plate and some coloured pens or pencils.

  2. Divide your plate into sections, just like the Eatwell Guide:

    • Fill half your plate with colourful fruits and vegetables. 🥦🥕🍎

    • Fill a quarter with starchy carbohydrates like potatoes, bread, or rice. 🍞🍚🥔

    • Fill the last quarter with protein-rich foods like fish, beans, or eggs. 🍗🐟🥚

  3. Now, raid your fridge and cupboards! Find examples of foods that fit into each section and draw or write them on your plate.

  4. Get creative! Think about how you can combine these foods to create tasty and balanced meals.

Bonus Challenges:

  • Research the Eatwell Guide and learn more about the recommended proportions for each food group.

  • Create a meal plan for a day, ensuring you include all the food groups in the right amounts.

  • Design a colourful poster or chart showcasing the Eatwell Guide and its key messages.

  • Share your balanced plate creations and meal plans on social media using #EdExpress!

This activity encourages healthy eating habits, nutritional awareness, and creative thinking. It's a fun and interactive way to understand the importance of a balanced diet and make informed food choices!
