THIS DAY IN HISTORY

This picture is taken during the 100th independece day of Finland, in the capital Helsinki. 100 flags were raised in front of the presidential palace to celebrate the 100 year milestone. Many landmarks and buildings in both Finland and several other countries around the world were illuminated with lights in blue and white, to recognize the event. The Finnish flag represents the nature and environment of Finland, snowy winters and summer blue lakes, sea and sky.

Finland declared independence from Russia.
