MATHS
Mastering Multiplication! ✖️

Introduction: Let's conquer multiplication today! We'll use fun activities to practice our times tables.

Materials: Paper, pencils, counters (buttons, beans, or small toys), dice (optional).

Activities:

  1. Times Table Challenge: Choose a times table to focus on (e.g., the 7 times table). Write it out from 1 x 7 to 10 x 7. Try to say the answers out loud as quickly as you can. 🗣️

  2. Counting Counters: Use counters to visualize multiplication. For example, to show 3 x 4, make 3 groups of 4 counters. How many counters are there in total? 🔢

  3. Dice Roll and Multiply: Roll two dice. Multiply the two numbers together. Write down the multiplication sentence and the answer. Repeat! 🎲

  4. Multiplication Bingo: Create bingo cards with different multiplication answers. Call out multiplication problems, and have your child mark off the answers on their card. 🥳

Helpful Tip: Practice makes perfect! The more you practice your times tables, the easier they will become.

SCIENCE
Exploring the Solar System! 🪐

Introduction: Let's blast off into space and learn about the planets in our solar system!

Materials: Paper, pencils, coloured pens or crayons, a computer or tablet (optional).

Activities:

  1. Planet Order: Can you name the planets in our solar system in the correct order from the Sun? (Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune). Create a mnemonic to help you remember the order (e.g., My Very Educated Mother Just Served Us Noodles). ☀️

  2. Planet Profiles: Choose one planet to research. Find out interesting facts about its size, temperature, atmosphere, and any moons it might have. Draw a picture of your chosen planet. 🪐

  3. Solar System Model: Create a model of the solar system. You can use different sized balls or create a drawing. Make sure to place the planets in the correct order and relative distances from the Sun. 🌍

  4. Space Travel: Imagine you are an astronaut travelling to your chosen planet. Write a diary entry about your journey, what you see, and what it's like to be in space. 🚀

Helpful Tip: There are many great websites and videos online that can help you learn about the solar system.

JOKE
A giggle a day keeps the learning blues away!

Q: Why did the student throw butter?
A: He wanted to see a butter-fly!
