Salt Dough Creations! 🧂🎨
Let's get creative in the kitchen and make some beautiful salt dough ornaments or sculptures!
You'll need:
1 cup plain flour
1/2 cup salt
1/2 cup water
Mixing bowl
Rolling pin
Cookie cutters (optional)
Straw or toothpick
Baking tray
Paint, glitter, or other decorations (optional)
Instructions:
Preheat your oven to 120°C (250°F).
In a mixing bowl, combine the flour and salt.
Gradually add the water, mixing until a dough forms.
Knead the dough on a lightly floured surface for a few minutes until smooth and pliable.
Roll out the dough to about 1/4 inch thickness.
Use cookie cutters to create shapes, or sculpt your own designs by hand.
Use a straw or toothpick to poke a hole at the top of each ornament for hanging.
Place your creations on a baking tray lined with baking paper.
Bake for 2-3 hours, or until the dough is hard and dry.
Once cooled, decorate your salt dough creations with paint, glitter, or other embellishments.
Tips:
If your dough is too dry, add a little more water. If it's too sticky, add a bit more flour.
You can add a few drops of food colouring to the dough for coloured creations.
If you don't have cookie cutters, use other objects to create shapes, such as bottle caps, keys, or even your own hands!
Let your creations dry completely before decorating them.
Seal your finished ornaments with a clear varnish to protect them.
